Oleksandrivsk

Oleksandrivsk is a satellite city of Luhansk, the oldest settlement in the Luhansk region.

The year 1772 is considered the official date of foundation, although the lands south of Siverskyi Donets were settled earlier.

In 1753, a special autonomous region of Slavic Serbia was created here, where Serbs and Vlachs came to settle. At that time, a line of fortresses began to be built from the mouth of the Luhan River to the mouth of the Samara River (between the previously created Ukrainian line and the later built Dnipro line).

According to one version, in 1754 the captain of the Bakhmut hussar regiment Kostyantyn Yuzbash founded the village of Yuzbashivka, which was later renamed Oleksandrivka in honor of his son Oleksandr Yuzbash, who inherited the estate from his father. According to another version, the village was founded by Oleksandr Yuzbash himself, when in 1775 he received 9,600 acres of land here as a reward for his service. This version contradicts the date of construction of the palace in Oleksandrivsk - 1772, which is indicated on the pediment (however, it is possible that the palace was built much later).

Later, the estate passed into the possession of Princess Mariya Shakhmatova. The last owner was Prince Shyrinsky-Shakhmatov. Now the estate, which is located in the center of the city, is in a state of disrepair (in Soviet times, the palace housed a tuberculosis dispensary).

The Ascension Church (1785), built at the expense of Oleksandr Yuzbash, has also been preserved.

Також збереглася Вознесенська церква (1785 рік), побудована коштом Олекандра Юзбаша.
