Lavriv

The village of Lavriv is located 15 kilometers northwest of Staryi Sambir.

It was mentioned for the first time in 1291 in the deed of Prince Lev Danylovych among his possessions. But even then in Lavriv there was a monastery of Saint Onuphrius, according to legend, it was founded by Prince Lavr, whose name the village bears since then. Historians associate him with the Grand Duke of Lithuania Voyshelko, who took the tonsure under the name Lavrish and spent the last years of his life in a monastery in Volyn.
