The ancient Polissya village of Kopyshche on the banks of the Ubort River is located in the north of Zhytomyr Region, close to the Belarusian border. Administratively, it is part of the Korosten district.
The village has been known since the middle of the 15th century, for a long time it belonged to the Nemyrych magnates. During the Second World War, one of the greatest tragedies of the Ukrainian people took place in Kopyshche - the occupiers executed 2,887 villagers for helping the partisans. In 1981, a monument was erected in the Memorial Park in the center of Kopyshche over the mass grave of the victims of the Kopyshche tragedy, and a museum was opened.

Старовинне поліське село Копище на березі річки Уборть розташоване на півночі Житомирської області, поруч із білоруським кордоном. Адміністративно входить до складу Коростенського району.
Село відоме з середини XV століття, довгий час належало магнатам Немиричам. Під час Другої світової війни у Копищах сталася одна з найбільших трагедій українського народу окупанти - стратили 2887 жителів села за допомогу партизанам. 1981 року в Меморіальному парку в центрі Копища встановлено пам'ятник над братською могилою жертв Копищенської трагедії та відкрито музей.
Село Копище є одним із небагатьох осередків стародавнього бортництва - розведення бджіл у традиційних вуликах-колодах (бортях).

The Kopyshche Village History Museum is part of the memorial complex of the Kopyshche Tragedy, located in the Memorial Park in the center of the village.
On July 13, 1943, with the help of partisan units, the Nazi invaders shot and burned 2,887 villagers alive, only a few survived. The central element of the museum exposition is the diorama "The Tragedy of Kopyshche".
The ethnographic section presents items of traditional life of Polishchuk, folk clothes, embroidered towels.
