Hulsk Mine
Castle / fortress
"Hulsk mine" is one of the key fortifications of the Zviahel (Novoрrad-Volynskyi) fortified district, built in 1932-1939.
A group of pillboxes is located on the right bank of the Sluch River in the area of the village of Hulsk. It was one of the most powerful supporting nodes of the so-called "Stalin Line". The fortified group, consisting of pillboxes Nos. 417, 418, 419, 420, 422, was inferior in size and firepower only to the fortifications of the Mohyliv-Podilskyi fortified area. The total length of the group's underground communications reached 515 meters. Armament consisted of two 76.2 millimeter guns of the 1902 model on caponier carriages of the 1932 model and ten Maxim machine guns.
It was in the Hulsk region, after the hasty retreat of the RSPA field units, that the Zviahel (Novoрrad-Volynskyi) fortified area was breached by German troops already on July 5, 1941.
