Yakymivka Castle
Architecture
Yakymivka Castle is a modern residential building in the center of Yakymivka, stylized as a medieval fortress or a fairy-tale castle.
Entrepreneur Andriy Halytskyi built it as a children's entertainment complex, but he was unable to complete the project due to disagreements with the local authorities, so the entrepreneur converted the building into his own home.
The building is made of natural stone. Many pointed towers and arched doors in the form of massive wooden gates on iron hinges make it look like a cartoon castle. The building has 3 large halls, a bedroom, a kitchen and other rooms. The total area of the building is about 330 square meters.
Yakymivka Castle has already become one of the main local attractions.
Yakymivka Museum of History and Local Lore
Museum / gallery
The Yakymivka Museum of History and Local Lore was opened in 1972 in the center of the village of Yakymivka, in the premises of one of the preserved buildings of the former manor house, built in 1909 by a local merchant Potetenyev.
Today, the museum has more than 2,000 exhibits that tell about the history of the region from ancient times to the present. In particular, the exposition includes many household items of the late XIX - early XX centuries, when Yakymivka became one of the largest points of grain trade in the Azov region: ceramics, decorative and applied arts of different peoples who lived in this area (towels, rugs, clothes, etc.).
A separate exhibition "Heroes do not die" is dedicated to the events of the Revolution of Dignity and the fallen heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
