The village of Vyrivka is located on the northwestern outskirts of Konotop.
It is mentioned in written sources in 1636. The first settlers were Cossacks.
During the War of Liberation, under the leadership of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, Vyrivka was the Cossack kuren of the Konotop Hundred. Later, it was included in the Novhorod-Siversky vicarage, later in the Chernihiv vicarage of the Konotop district.
Yukhym Shkolyarenko, a merchant of the first guild, greatly contributed to the development of the village at the end of the 19th century. A school, a first aid station and the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin were built at his expense, which has survived to this day.
Protection of Holy Virgin Church
Temple , Architecture
The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin rises on the steep bank of the river in the center of the village of Vyrivka.
It was founded in 1892 at the expense of Yukhym Shkolyarenko, a merchant of the first guild, who towards the end of his life was engaged in charity work.
The temple impresses not only with its size and architecture, but also with its interior decoration.
During Soviet times, the church survived, although it was neglected for many years.
Currently, the church has been restored, and the portrait of the founder is preserved in it.
