The city of Berezivka is located 83 kilometers north of Odesa, on the left bank of the Tylihul River. In the 18th century, there was a parking lot for Chumaks who went to the Perekop salt lakes to collect salt at this place.
Berezivka was founded in 1802 by settlers from the northern provinces of Ukraine and southern Russia, as well as German colonists. By the middle of the 19th century, Berezivka already played a significant role as a center of trade and crafts. Saint Nicholas Church was built in Berezivka at the end of the 19th century. During Soviet times, the church was closed, the premises were used as a school gymnasium.
The revival of the Saint Nicholas Church in Berezivka began in 1993, after Ukraine gained independence.
