General information about Vovchyk

The village of Vovchyk on the left bank of the Sula River is located 15 kilometers northeast of Lubny. Administratively, it is part of the Lubny hromada of the Lubny district of the Poltava region.

According to legend, the village was founded by the old Cossack Khamula on a spit at the confluence of the Sulytsia River into the Sula, but was later moved to the opposite bank of the Sula. The first written mention dates back to 1658, when Vovchyk was listed as part of the Lubny hundred of the Lubny regiment.

The exhibition tells about the nature of the Poltava region, the foundation and ancient past of the village, its development in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the period of collectivization and the Holodomor, the events of World War II, etc.

In the art gallery you can see works of painting by Ukrainian artists and examples of folk art: embroidery, ceramics, artistic weaving.
