The village of Melnykivka is located in the valley of the Srybryanka River, 20 kilometers west of Smila.
Known since the 18th century. It is believed that the village has long been specialized in millinery, hence the name.
In the 19th century, the village belonged to the landowners Morozov. From those times, the wooden Intercession Church in the style of classicism has been preserved.
Intercession of Holy Virgin Church
Temple , Architecture
The wooden church in the village of Melnykivka was built in the first half of the 19th century and consecrated in the name of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.
Due to restrictions on the use of traditional Ukrainian style in church architecture, the church turned out to be unusual, with pronounced features of classicism.
Probably, the Intercession Church served as a burial place for landowners Morozov or Zolotaryov, who owned Melnykivka in the 19th century. The graves of the Zolotaryovs have been preserved on the church bypass.
Old German Bridge
Architecture
The old bridge in the Nadezhdivka tract near Melnykivka and Rotmistrivka, according to some sources, was built by the Germans during the Second World War.
There is also an assumption that these are the remains of an old manor house.
