Zhabotyn

The ancient village of Zhabotyn is located between Cherkasy and Kamyanka, next to the historic Kholodnyi Yar.

It was founded at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries on the site of the historical city of Radivonova, which was destroyed by the Tatars in 1484. In 1633, the crown hetman Stanislav Konetspolskyi bought these lands and began to actively settle them. Since 1649, Zhabotyn became the hundredth town of the Chyhyryn regiment.

In 1768, the inhabitants took part in the uprising of Maksym Zaliznyak and seized Zhabotyn Castle, but Polish power was soon restored. At that time, Zhabotyn belonged to the Lubomyrskyi magnates, then it repeatedly changed owners, which negatively affected economic development.
