The cultural landscape of the city, including the Ancient Rus temple complex of the Chernihiv Dytynets, the Yeletsky Monastery and the sacred monuments on Boldini Hills, can receive the status of world heritage.
Three objects of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv" will be included in the nomination application for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This was reported by the press service of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.
"In recent years, scientists and representatives of the authorities considered several proposals for nominations to UNESCO World Heritage. In the end, they decided to focus on the landscape and natural environment and settled on the nomination "Cultural landscape of Chernihiv city". Three objects should be included in it", - the message said.
According to the decision of the regional authorities and experts, the application will include:
- the complex of the historic center of the city – the former city earthen fortress with all the appropriate buildings (territory of Chernihiv Val);
- Yeletsky Hill with the ensemble of the Yeletsky Dormition Monastery and the mound "Black grave";
- Boldyni Hills with a burial mound of the 10th century and the complex of the Trinity-Illinsky Monastery.
Currently, the region is working on the preparation of a corresponding package of documents.
As reported by travels.in.ua, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine is preparing a nomination file for inclusion of the cultural landscape of Chernihiv in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
