Users can take a virtual walk through two floors of the museum, where modern exhibitions are presented, and listen to information about some of the exhibits and their authors accompanied by sign language translation.
A virtual 3D tour of its exhibition halls was created by the Odesa National Art Museum with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund as part of the "Accessible Museum Online" project. As the institution reports on its official website, the inclusive tour is accompanied by sign language interpretation.
"It consists of a three-dimensional scan of the modern expositions "To the war" and the series "Languages of war" accompanied by 22 videos in sign language, which tell about individual series of works and their authors. In this way, the exhibition halls of both floors of the museum become accessible to various people who are interested in culture and art," the message said.
In addition to the virtual tour, as part of the project, the museum published a sign language translation of 7 interviews with artists from the "From the First Person" series. It also promises a new series of 5 video lectures about female artists whose works are presented in the ONHM collection.
To create a video in sign language, the museum staff involved the department of professional sign language interpreters of "Suspilny". The author of the video projects is art critic and cultural manager Alya Segal.
