The new format provides for places for traditional food trade alongside unique gastronomic corners, a separate bar and a large recreation area.

The legendary Bessarabian Market in the center of Kyiv, after a major reconstruction, opened in a new format "Bessarabka. Food Market". The building is an architectural monument of national significance, so none of its authentic elements were changed during the works, Ukrinform reports.

"After the renovation, a food hall with 14 corners and a bar was added here, and about 400 seats were arranged for guests. Traders who previously worked here are returning to work," the report says.

The reconstruction of the building has been ongoing since the summer of 2024. The space was updated and modernized, but all the authentic interior details were preserved - columns, forged structures, original paving stones and historical tiles.

It is noted that Bessarabka now has modern lighting, air conditioning and heating systems. The market space has been made barrier-free, more accessible for comfortable shopping, eating and relaxing. In particular, there is now an inclusive toilet and a comfortable area for changing babies.

The Bessarabian Market was built in 1910-1912 at the expense of the famous sugar manufacturer Lazar Brodsky. The architect of the market is Henryk Hai, the project executor is architect Mykhailo Bobrusov.

Легендарний Бессарабський ринок у центрі Києва після капітальної реконструкції відкрився у новому форматі "Бессарабка. Ринок їжі". Будівля є пам'яткою архітектури національного значення, тому під час робіт жоден її автентичний елемент не змінили, повідомляє "Укрінформ".

"Після оновлення тут додався фудхол із 14 корнерами та баром, для гостей облаштовано близько 400 посадкових місць. Торговці, які раніше тут працювали, повертаються до роботи", – йдеться у повідомленні.

Реконструкція будівлі тривала з літа 2024 року. Простір оновили та модернізували, але при цьому зберегли всі автентичні деталі інтер'єру – колони, ковані конструкції, оригінальну бруківку та історичні кахлі.

Зазначається, що Бессарабка тепер має сучасне освітлення, системи кондиціювання та опалення. Простір ринку зробили безбар'єрним, більш доступним для комфортного шопінгу, споживання їжі та відпочинку. Зокрема, тепер тут є інклюзивна вбиральня та комфортна зона для сповивання малюків.

Бессарабський ринок побудували в 1910-1912 роках коштом відомого цукрозаводчика Лазаря Бродського. Архітектор ринку – Генрик Гай, виконавець проєкту – архітектор Михайло Бобрусов.
