National Opera Theater of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko
The National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv is one of the most famous opera and ballet stages in Europe.
The building was built in the style of the French Renaissance on the site of the city theater that burned down in 1896. In 1911, Russian Prime Minister Petro Stolypin was assassinated here in front of Mykola II and the public.
In the park there is a monument to the author of classical Ukrainian operas, Mykola Lysenko.
