Odesa Founders Monument (Catherine II Monument), Odesa

The monument to Empress Catherine II and her associates (Platon Zubov, Hryhoriy Potomkin, Frants de Volan, Yosyp Derybas) was erected for the 100th anniversary of the Odesa.

In Soviet times, it was replaced by a monument to the Potemkinites.

The revival of the monument in 2007 was accompanied by protests by Odesa national patriots who opposed the perpetuation of the memory of the oppressor who eliminated Ukraine's independence.

On December 28, 2022, during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, by the decision of the Odesa City Council, the monument to Catherine was dismantled and transferred to the Odesa Art Museum.

Пам'ятник імператриці Катерині II та її сподвижникам (Платону Зубову, Григорію Потьомкіну, Францу де Волану, Йосипу Дерибасу) було встановлено до 100-чя Одеси.

За радянських часів його замінили на пам'ятник Потьомкінцям.

Відродження монумента в 2007 році супроводжувалося протестами націонал-патріотів Одеси, які виступали проти увічнення пам'яті гнобительки, яка ліквідувала незалежність України.

28 грудня 2022 року, під час повномасштабної російсько-української війни, рішенням Одеської міської ради пам'ятник Катерині було демонтовано та передано до Художнього музею Одеси.
