Zaporizhzhian Oak, Zaporizhzhia

The 700-year-old Zaporizhzhian giant oak, which became a symbol of the Ukrainian Cossacks. It has been a place of pilgrimage for millions of people for centuries.

The exact age has not been established, so some historians believe that this iconic tree was mentioned in the chronicles of the Byzantine emperor Kostyanyn Bahryanorodnyi as early as the 10th century.

Once the diameter of the green crown of the Zaporozhzhian Oak was 63 meters, the length of the trunk circle was 6 meters, and the height was 36 meters. After the construction of the DniproHPP and the rise of the groundwater level, the root system was damaged. At the end of the 20th century, the tree began to dry, now only one branch is alive.

700-річний Запорозький дуб-велетень, який став символом українського козацтва. Протягом століть він був місцем паломництва мільйонів людей.

Точного віку не встановлено, тому деякі історики вважають, що саме це культове дерево згадано у хроніках візантійського імператора Костянина Багрянородного ще в X сторіччі.

Колись діаметр зеленої крони Запорозького дубу становив 63 метри, довжина кола стовбура - 6 метрів, висота - 36 метрів. Після спорудження Дніпрогесу та підйому рівня ґрунтових вод була пошкоджена коренева система. Наприкінці XX століття дерево почало сохнути, зараз жива лише одна гілка.
