Kharytonenko-Lishchynsky Palace

Palace / manor , Architecture

The neo-Renaissance palace of the Kharytonenko-Lishchynskys in Kyianytsia is considered one of the pearls of the estate construction of Slobozhanshchyna. It is located on the territory of the Kyianytsia arboretum with an area of 56 hectares and is an architectural monument of local importance.

The luxurious palace on the shore of the pond in his Kyianytsia estate was built in 1890 by Sumy entrepreneur and philanthropist Ivan Kharytonenko. After his death in 1891, the estate passed into the inheritance of his niece Maria, who married the merchant Mykola Lishchynsky.

The two-story Kyianytsia palace with an elegant tower, surrounded by a centuries-old park, looks especially romantic from the opposite bank of the pond. The Kyianytsia Arboretum is home to over 70 species of trees and shrubs, including plane trees, ginkgo, silver firs, pines, lindens, maples, and, of course, the main park-forming tree - oak. A small outbuilding has also been preserved.

In Soviet times, the Kyianytsia recreation center was located on the territory of the Lishchynsky estate. The building is now owned by the Sumy National Agrarian University and has undergone partial restoration.

During the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2026, the Kharytonenko-Lishchynsky palace in Kyianytsia suffered significant damage as a result of Russian shelling.
