Koriukivka

The city of Koriukivka is located 85 kilometers northeast of Chernihiv, at some distance from the main highways.

It was founded in 1657 by the Cossack Koriuka, which is where the name comes from. According to another version, there was a large oak bark harvesting center here, the tool for the production of which was the karuka.

At different times, the settlement belonged to hetmans Ivan Samoylovych, Ivan Mazepa, as well as Chernihiv colonel Pavlo Polubotko. In the middle of the 19th century, the entrepreneur Karl Raukh founded a distillery and sugar factories in Koriukivka, which were soon bought by the sugar producer, philanthropist and philanthropist Lazar Brodskyi.
