The village of Staryi Vovchynets is located 15 kilometers south of Hlyboka, near the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
It was mentioned for the first time in 1703, when the Hetman of Suchava Mykola Kostyna presented it to the Barnovskyi Monastery (Moldova).
From the end of the 18th century, Russian Old Believers began to settle here. In the center of the village, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin with two towers and a belfry-rotunda (year 1900) has been preserved.
Since 1957, the village museum of local history has been operating, which exhibits a large collection of Bukovyna Easter eggs.
