Khreshchatyk

The village of Khreshchatyk is located on the high bank of the Dniester 45 kilometers north of Chernivtsi, opposite Zalishchyki.

It appeared after the establishment in the 17th century of a cave Orthodox hermitage near two healing springs. According to the legend, once on the night before the feast of John the Theologian, a glow appeared over the springs. An oak cross was erected at this place, which is where the name of the monastery and the entire village came from. Later, a small chapel with a bell tower appeared. In the 18th century, a church and a chapel in honor of Saint John the Theologian were built above the hermitage complex, which became the foundation of the Khreshchatyk monastery.

During Austrian times, a water main was built, which supplied the village with wat ...

From the picturesque terraces of the village, a fantastic panorama of the Dniester opens, covering the neighboring city of Zalishchyki in a gigantic loop.

З'явилося після заснування в XVII сторіччі печерного православного скиту біля двох цілющих джерел. За легендою, одного разу в ніч перед святом Іоанна Богослова над джерелами з'явилося сяйво. На цьому місці було встановлено дубовий хрест, звідки пішла назва монастиря і всього села. Пізніше з'явилася невелика каплиця з дзвіницею. В XVIII столітті над комплексом скиту була побудована церква і каплиця на честь Святого Іоанна Богослова, що стала основою Хрещатицького чоловічого монастиря.

За австрійських часів був побудований водогін, який постачав село водою з мінерального джерела. Зараз тут працює завод, який розливає мінеральну воду "Хрещатик" ...
