Khmelyska

The village of Khmelyska on the Samets River is located 15 kilometers west of Pidvolochysk, 5 kilometers from the M-12 highway "Ternopil - Khmelnytskyi".

Known since 1565 as Khmelyshcha. The name probably comes from the hop thickets that once covered the ravines around the village.

In 1807, the first stone church of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Theotokos was built. The first Catholic chapel was founded at the expense of the Polish community of the village in 1899. The land for construction was allocated by the landowner Rosenstock. The current Ascension Church was built in 1931-38.
