Kalanchak is a village 80 kilometers southeast of Kherson, on the "Crimean" highway M-17 (E-97) Kherson - Simferopol.
Founded in 1794 by exiled participants of the uprising in the village of Turbai in the Poltava region. It got its name from the Kalanchak River, which flows here. The development of trade was facilitated by the Chumatsky Way, which passed through the village. The basis of the economy is still agriculture and the food industry.
Among the architectural monuments, the Zemstvo school building, built at the beginning of the 20th century using the architectural traditions of the Renaissance and Baroque (now a dental hospital), has been preserved.

Kalanchak Local Lore Museum

The local lore museum of the village of Kalanchak was founded in 1978. It is located in a separate adapted building in the center of the village next to the central park.
The museum funds include almost four thousand exhibits that tell the history of the region from ancient times to the present. The exposition contains a lot of ethnographic material - embroidered shirts, towels, household items, ancient icons, a spinning wheel, embroidered paintings, etc. There is an equipped photo zone in the style of a Ukrainian hut.
