The village of Smotrych is a southern suburb of Kamyanets-Podilskyi, until 1946 - Tataryski.
The village of Tataryski was first mentioned in 1530. Probably, the first settlers were Tatars.
Since 1795, the village was owned by Count Arkadiy Morkov.
It was renamed immediately after the beginning of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars.
