General information about Rokytne
The village of Rokytne on the Mozh River is located between Nova Vodolaha and Lubotyn, not far from Kharkiv.
Founded in 1699 by Colonel Fedir Donets-Zakharzhevskyi. His son sold the village to Lipetsk centurion Chernyak. After his death, the centurion's widow married lieutenant colonel Mykhaylo Kulikovskyi, whose descendants owned the village until 1880. Kulikovskyi was built in the Rokytne estate in the style of Russian classicism, as well as the Archangel Michael Church - both architectural monuments have been preserved and are now the main attractions of Rokytne. At the end of the 19th century, the village was transferred to the treasury, and a school of horticulture (now an agricultural lyceum) was opened in the manor house.

Archangel Michael Church

The Church of Archangel Michael in Rokytne was built in 1805 at the expense of Colonel Mykhaylo Kulykovsky on the territory of his estate instead of the old wooden church.
The large stone building is made in the style of classicism. In plan, the temple is round, with two porticos protruding from the side of the porch and the altar. It is crowned by a dome on a drum with windows cut into it. In 1827, a graceful two-story stone belfry was erected. Its first tier was surrounded by columns, the second was decorated with flat pilasters. Unfortunately, the bell tower was destroyed during the Soviet era, when the church was closed.
In 1989, the Archangel Michael Church in Rokytne was returned to believers, in 1992 restoration began.

Kulykovsky Manor

The noble estate of the Kulykovsky family in Rokytne is called the pearl of classicism.
The estate with a palace and a park was established at the end of the 18th century by the Kharkiv colonel Matviy Kulykovsky, after he married the widow of the former owner of the Rokytne Lipetsk centurion Chernyak. The palace was rebuilt in its current form by his son Mykhaylo Kulykovsky, the leader of the Valkiv nobility.
A luxurious two-story manor house with loggias is decorated with a colonnade in the Doric style. A stable, a kennel, an aviary, a greenhouse and a water mill were built on the territory of the manor. A magnificent garden with terraces and ponds was laid out around the palace.
After the death of the owner of the manor, his daughters lost the estate in Rokytne, and in 1880 it passed to the treasury. The wing was dismantled for building materials, but the main house was preserved - later a horticultural school was opened in it. Today it is the Rokytne Professional Agrarian Lyceum.
