The village of Mykilske on the Kashlahach River is located 30 kilometers northwest of Volnovakha, 70 kilometers from Makiivka.
It was founded in the 1940s by immigrants from Poltava and Oryol regions. In 1910-1912, the Saint Nicholas Church was built, which has survived to this day.
In 1959, the neighboring village of Vasylivka, in which the Saint Basil's Church existed before the revolution, was annexed to Mykilske. Archimandrite Zosima, who came here in 1986, began the restoration of the Saint Basil's temple. Now it is the Holy Dormition Nicholas-Basil's Monastery.
