Staromaiorske

The village of Staromaiorske is located on the left bank of the Mokri Yaly River in the Donetsk region and is administratively part of the Volnovakha district of this region. The distance to the district center is 55 kilometers in a straight line (the length of the road route may be longer).

The village of Staromaiorske was founded at the beginning of the 18th century by Zaporizhzhia Cossacks. The Cossack settlement belonged to the Kalmius palanka of Zaporizhzhia Sich.

At the end of the 19th century, the village had an Orthodox church, a school, a bench, 2 wine cellars, a malt house, a distillery and a steam mill, and 2 fairs were held a year.

According to the 2001 census, the population of the village of Staromaiorske was 840 people.

During the Russian-Ukrainian war, the village was under Russian occupation for a long time. On July 27, 2023, the 35th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the "Arey" battalion of territorial defense, liberated the village of Staromaiorske from the Russian invaders. The battle for Staromaiorske was difficult and long.

Село Старомайорське розташоване на лівому березі річки Мокрі Яли на території Донецької області та адміністративно входить до складу Волноваського району цієї області. Відстань до районого центру становить 55 кілометрів по прямій (довжина маршруту автомобільними дорогами може бути більшою).

Село Старомайорське засноване на початку XVIII сторіччя запорозькими козаками. Козацьке поселення відносилося до Кальміуської паланки Запорозької Січі.

На кінець ХІХ століття в селі існували православна церква, школа, лавка, 2 винних погреби, солодовня, винокурний завод й паровий млин, відбувалось 2 ярмарки на рік.
