The village of Obukhivka is located on the Orel River in an ecologically clean area (10 kilometers northwest of the Dnipro), a popular area for suburban cottage construction.
The first mentions of the village of Obukhivka, named after the Cossack Obukh, date back to 1648. With the formation of the Katerynoslav province, the village ended up in its Novomoskovsk district.
During the construction of the Middle Dnipro HPP in 1964, a new channel was laid for the Orel River, thanks to which a protected area appeared near the village, on which the Dnipro-Orel Nature Reserve was formed.
