Kryvyi Rih

The city of Kryvyi Rih is a large industrial center, where the most expensive enterprise of Ukraine - Kryvorizhstal - is located. It is considered the longest city in Europe, although the maximum length does not exceed 80 kilometers.

The city arose in the middle of the 17th century at the confluence of the Saksahan and Inhulets rivers, where a long cape or "corner" was formed. The year of establishment is considered to be 1775, when a post road station was opened in the Kryvyi Rih tract. At first it was a military settlement, then with the development of iron ore mining it turned into an industrial center, the impetus for which was the construction of the Catherine railway in 1884.

The city arose in the middle of the 17th century at the confluence of the Saksahan and Inhulets rivers, where a long cape or "corner" was formed. The year of establishment is considered to be 1775, when a post road station was opened in the Kryvyi Rih tract. At first it was a military settlement, then with the development of iron ore mining it turned into an industrial center, the impetus for which was the construction of the Catherine railway in 1884.

Currently, the actual center of the city is considered to be the "95th quarter" (Horky Square area), where the city council, most of the offices, shopping complexes, night clubs, cafes and restaurants are located.

Within the city limits is the landscape reserve "Northern Red Beam", MOPR rocks, and a botanic garden. A feature of the transport system is the metro tram - an 18-kilometer semi-underground tram line, 4 of which are underground from 11 stations.

Місто виникло в середині XVII століття на місці злиття річок Саксагані та Інгульця, де утворився довгий мис або "ріг". Датою заснування вважають 1775 рік, коли в урочищі Кривий Ріг була відкрита станція поштового тракту. Спочатку було військовим поселенням, потім з розвитком видобутку залізної руди перетворилося на промисловий центр, поштовхом для чого стало спорудження в 1884 році Катерининської залізниці.

Зараз фактичним центром міста вважається "95 квартал" (район площі Горького), де знаходиться міськрада, більшість офісів, торгових ком ...

В межах міста розташований ландшафтний заказник "Північна Червона балка", скелі МОПРа, ботсад. Особливістю транспортної системи є метротрамвай - 18-кілометрова напівпідземна трамвайна лінія, з 11 станцій якої - 4 підземні.
