Kryve

The village of Kryve on the Kryvyanka River is located between Zhytomyr and Fastiv, 15 kilometers north of the former Popilnya district center. It is now administratively part of the Zhytomyr district. 

The village was founded in 1618 thanks to hetman Petro Sahaidachny, who received permission from the Polish king Sigismund III to settle the territories along the Teteriv and Irpin rivers with Cossacks. Initially, the settlement was called Kryvyn, it had few earthen fortifications.

The Kryve is known as the former estate of the Yurkevych family, who lived here from the middle of the 19th century. In the center of the village, a park and the Yurkevych manor house have been preserved (now in an abandoned state). In 1855, the famous doctor and public figure Yosyp Yurkevych ...

In the center of the village, a park and the Yurkevych manor house have been preserved (now in an abandoned state). In 1855, the famous doctor and public figure Yosyp Yurkevych was born in Kryve. With his money, a school was built in Kryve, which until recently was still working and bore the name of the founder. A historical museum has been opened on the territory of the school.

Another architectural landmark of Kryve is the People's House, built in the first half of the 20th century in the style of Ukrainian Art Nouveau.

Село Криве на річці Крив'янці розташоване між Житомиром і Фастовом, за 15 кілометрів на північ від колишнього райцентру Попільня. Зараз адміністративно входить до складу Житомирського району.

Село засноване 1618 року завдяки гетьману Петру Сагайдачному, який отримав дозвіл від польського короля Сігізмунда III на заселення козаками територій вздовж річок Тетерів та Ірпінь. Початково поселення називалося Кривин, мало земляні укріплення.

Зараз Криве більше відоме як колишній маєток родини Юркевичів, які мешкали тут від середини XIX століття. В центрі села зберігся парк і садибний будинок Юркевичів (зараз у занедбаному стані).
