The village of Novomykhailivka on the Sukhi Yaly River is located 30 kilometers southwest of Donetsk. Administratively, it is part of the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region.
The village was founded in 1887 as Nekhotiyivka, later renamed to Novomykhailivka, when the wooden Saint Michael's Church church was built. The current stone church of the Miracle of Archangel Michael was built in 1902.
The building of the Zemstvo school, which now houses the People's Museum of the Novomykhailivka Village History, has also been preserved.
Село Новомихайлівка на річці Сухі Яли розташоване за 30 кілометрів на південний захід від Донецька. Адміністративно входить до складу Покровського району Донецької області.
Село засноване в 1887 році як Нехотіївка, згодом перейменоване на Новомихайлівку, коли була збудована дерев'яна Михайлівська церква. Нинішня кам'яна церква Чуда Архістратига Михаїла зведена в 1902 році.
Також збереглася будівля земської школи, де зараз розташований Народний музей історії села Новомихайлівка.

The communal cultural and educational institution "People's Museum of the Novomykhailivka Village History" is located in the former premises of the Zemstvo school.
The museum funds include more than 3,000 exhibits. The exposition presents ancient tools, household items, money of different times. The most notable exhibits are an old carriage and a retro car "Moskvich-401".
During the large-scale Russian aggression in 2022, the museum was destroyed, a large part of the exposition was destroyed.
