Sokilets

The village of Sokilets is located on the left bank of one of the most picturesque sections of the South Buh River, opposite the Pechera village.

Known since the 15th century, until the 19th century it was part of the Bratslav district. It belonged to the Potocki-Sveikovsky family, whose estate was located in the nearby Pechera. In Sokilets, Potocki planted a terraced orchard and built the so-called "Wild Canal" along the Southern Buh, which is now used for water slalom competitions. The territory of the terrace garden is occupied by the "Sokilets" sanatorium. Село Сокілець розташоване на лівому березі однієї з наймальовничіших ділянок ріки Південний Буг, навпроти села Печера.

Відоме з XV століття, до XIX століття входило в Брацлавський повіт. Належало Потоцьким-Свейковським, садиба яких знаходилася в сусідній Печері. У Сокільці Потоцькі висадили терасний фруктовий сад і провели так званий "Дикий канал" вздовж Південного Бугу, який використовується зараз для змагань з водного слалому. Територію террасного саду займає санаторій "Сокілець". Біля мосту через річку знаходиться дамба та будівля "Сокілецького млину" Потоцьких, яка до 1992 року була діючою гідроелектростанцією.
