Hnivan

The town of Hnivan on the Pivdenny Buh River is located 20 kilometers south of Vinnytsia.

It was first mentioned in 1629. There are several legends about the origin of the name, and all of them are related to the word "anger".

For a long time, Hnivan was a simple village. The first industrial enterprise in 1848 was the sugar factory of the landowner Yosyp Yaroshynskyi (the ruins have been preserved). During the construction of the Kyiv-Odesa railway, which ran through Hnivan in 1866-71, the industrial development of the Hnivan granite quarry, which belonged to Yaroshynskyi, began.
