The city of Ladyzhyn on the Southern Buh River is located 100 kilometers southeast of Vinnytsia, 20 kilometers northwest of Haisyn.
It was first mentioned in the 16th century as a fortified city of the Bratslav Voivodeship. A wooden fortress with earthen ramparts was built on the site of the ancient Rus settlement of Kaladyzhyn, destroyed by the Tatars in 1240 (the remains of the ramparts were preserved in the center of the city). Ladyzhyn was a military settlement for a long time. The buildings where the Cossack cavalry of the tsarist army stood, later - the Kotovsky regiment, and nowadays - the infantry military unit, have been preserved to this day.
