Orlivka

Orlivka is a village at the mouth of the Kacha River 20 kilometers north of Sevastopol. The center of the village is 3 kilometers from the sea, but there is a resort area directly on the shore.

Since the 19th century, the village has been known as the Tatar village of Mamashay. Translated from Turkic, it means: "mother" - the name of the Kipchak family (tribe); "Shai (tea)" is a river. In 1927, the Tatar mosque was closed and turned into a cultural center. During the second defense of Sevastopol in 1941, the 10th Coastal Battery of the SOR was located near Mamashay, which held back the advance of German troops for one and a half months.
