Shcholkine is one of the youngest cities in Ukraine, a failed town of power engineers.
Built on the shores of the Arabat Gulf of the Azov Sea for the maintenance personnel of the Crimean nuclear power plant, which began to be erected on the shores of the Aktash salt lake in 1978.
The construction was stopped by the efforts of the "green". In 1995, the unfinished nuclear power plant became the venue for the grandiose youth dance music festival "Kazantip", but after 3 years it was moved to Popivka on the western coast of Crimea.
Now Shcholkine is developing as a resort, there are many offers of comfortable private housing in modern houses.

The construction of the Crimean NPP began in 1978 on the shores of the Aktash Salt Lake near the Kazantip protected cape. The construction was stopped by the efforts of the "greens".
Gazebo-Rotunda
Monument
The gazebo-rotunda on the shore of the Arabatska Bay of the Sea of Azov is considered a symbol of Shcholkine.
The brick and concrete structure in the antique style appeared in 1972 at the initiative of the director of the Riga boarding house. According to another version, the rotunda was built two years earlier. for the filming of one of the episodes of the film "King Lear".
For decades, the Shcholkine gazebo-rotunda on the cape has been the most romantic place on Kazantip.
