The village of Ostrivya is located on the shore of Lake Ostrivyanske, 15 kilometers northwest of Shatsk.
The name is explained by the fact that the village is surrounded by lakes and channels, and is actually located on an island. It belonged to the Hutovsky landowners.
The wooden church of Saint Barbara has been preserved.

The Church of Saint Barbara in the village of Ostrivya on the Shatsky Lakes was founded in the 18th century. The year of construction and the founders of the temple are unknown. The date 1849 is engraved on the rafters, but according to local experts, this is the year when the church was covered with galvanized sheets bought in Poland.
In 1963, the church of Saint Barbara was closed by the Soviet authorities, and the church utensils were moved to the nearby Kazan church in the village of Pishcha.
Divine service was resumed in 1989. Belongs to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. It is an architectural monument of local importance.
