The village of Komarhorod is located between Tulchyn and Tomashpol. It has been known since the 15th century as the fortified town of Komar-horodok. Named in honor of the first owner - the Polish nobleman Komar.
Then it belonged to the Chetvertynskyi princes, who built a Swiss-style palace-chalet here. The palace is located in the middle of the old park, which received its current appearance at the end of the 19th century under the last owner of the manor, Count Balashov.
The 18th century church and the 19th century Stephen's Church have also been preserved.
Chetvertynsky Palace
Palace / manor , Architecture
The gloomy palace-chalet surrounded by old Christmas trees on the park side resembles a haunted house.
Built in Komarhorod in the 1830s by Chetvertynsky princes. In the second half of the 19th century, the building underwent a major reconstruction, the facades were decorated with carved wood and half-timbering like Swiss hunting castles. The greenhouse, which used to be adjacent to the main facade, has not been preserved.
The park surrounding the palace was laid out at the end of the 19th century by Count Balashov. Its area is about 2.5 hectares. There are more than 100 species and forms of trees and shrubs here. In addition to valuable conifers, black and walnut, Amur velvet and a number of local breeds grow.
Currently, the Chetvertynsky Palace is one of the buildings of the Komarhorod Agrarian Lyceum, most of the premises are in poor condition.
