Sholomyn

The ancient village Sholomyn on the Horozhanka River is located 20 kilometers southeast of Lviv. Administratively, it is part of the Davydiv hromada of the Lviv district of the Lviv region.

The village Sholomyn was first mentioned in 1486 as the property of the Krakow voivode Jan Amor Junior Tarnowski. Later, it was owned by the Zaslavski lords. In ancient times, Sholomyn was a center of salt production and trade.

According to legend, there was once a monastery on the mountain above the village. In its place is now the stone church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The wooden church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in the center of the village was built in 1889 on the site of an older church.

Вперше село Шоломия згадується у 1486 році як власність краківського воєводи Яна Амора Юніора Тарновського. Згодом ним володіли пани Заславські. За тих часів Шоломинь був центром солеваріння і торгівлі.
