The village of Hiiche on the Rata River is located 50 kilometers northwest of Lviv, near Rava-Ruska. Administratively, it is part of the Rava-Ruska hromada of Lviv district.
Hiiche was first mentioned in historical documents in 1513, but archaeological finds indicate that settlements existed on the territory of the village much earlier.
The wooden church of Saints Kuzma and Demyan was built in 1860. Also, a small neo-Gothic stone chapel from the beginning of the 20th century has been preserved by the road.
In 1914, a major battle took place on the outskirts of the village in the Prybytka tract between the troops of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Russian Empire. A memorial was erected at this place.
