The city of Kreminna on the Chervona River is located near Siverskodonetsk, next to Siverskyi Donets.
It is located in the center of the Kreminsky forests, which are called the "lungs of Donbas". According to one of the versions, it was in these places in 1185 that the battle of Kyiv prince Ihor with the Polovtsy took place.
Sloboda Kreminna was founded in 1680 by fugitive serfs near the Cossack settlement of Sukhariv horodok, which later disappeared. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the village was called Novohluhiv, the Hlukhiv regiment was stationed here. Coal mining began in 1895.
In 1932, the Kreminsky forests were declared a state reserve, the construction of boarding houses and recreation centers began. There are good recreational opportunities.
