Sasiv

The village of Sasiv on the Zakhidny Buh River is located 10 kilometers from Zolochiv on the road to Pidhirtsi.

Founded in 1615 by Voivode Ivan Danylovych from Olesko as a trading town of Sasiv on the site of the village of Komarove. Danylovych named the town after the inscription "SAS" on his own coat of arms. Sasiv used Magdeburg law, there was a castle here (not preserved).

Soon, Sasiv became the property of the Sobesky family, its patron was the Polish king Yan III Sobesky, who sometimes came here to hunt in the surrounding forests. Later, the owners of the village were the Starzhensky.

The Neo-Gothic Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist (1864) and the wooden Saint Nicolas Church (1731) have been preserved.
