Opaka

The village of Opaka is located in the foothills of the Carpathians, 10 kilometers from Skhidnytsia. A sanatorium operates on the basis of sources of healing mineral waters.

The village was founded by Ruthenian peasants, who found their refuge from the Mongol-Tatars in a place protected from all sides by mountains and dense forests, even before the time of Danylo Halytskyi.

The first mention of this area occurs during the rule of the Poles in these lands in 1349. Since that time, the village belonged to the Crown Forests of the Sambir economy.

During the Austrian rule, before the First World War, there was a reading room in the village of Opaka, plays were staged, and prayers were read according to the Eastern rite in the Ukrainian language.
