General information about Vilniansk
The city of Vilniansk on the Vilyanka River is located 25 kilometers northeast of Zaporizhzhia.
It was founded in 1840 (according to other data in 1810-1816) as the village of Sofiyivka. The current city developed around the Sofiyivka railway station, which was opened in 1873. Until 1966, the village was called Chervonoarmiyske.
The Saint Volodymyr Church, built in 1902, has been preserved.
Місто Вільнянськ на річці Вільнянка розташоване в 25 кілометрах на північний схід від Запоріжжя.
Засноване в 1840 році (за іншими даними в 1810-1816 роках) як село Софіївка. Нинішнє місто розвинулося навколо залізничної станції "Софіївка", яку було відкрито в 1873 році. До 1966 року селище називалося Червоноармійське.
Збереглася Володимирська церква, побудована в 1902 році.

Vilniansk Museum of Local Lore

The Vilniansk Museum of Local Lore was opened in 1971.
More than 2,000 items are stored in the museum's collections. 7 halls are open to visitors.
The "Settlement" hall shows the history of the region from the earliest times to the 19th century.
In the "Beginning of the 20th Century" hall, household items, tools, and documents of this period are exhibited.
Other halls tell about revolutionary events, the history of the Taras Shevchenko plant, and the events of the Second World War.
Temporary exhibitions exhibit the works of local artists, craftsmen and lovers of decorative and applied arts.
