Starunia

The village of Starunia, between Bohorodchany and Nadvirna, is known for its mineral deposits, archaeological finds and natural anomalies.

17 settlements of ancient people of the VII-V millennia BC, the remains of mammoths and woolly rhinoceros were found here. The village of Starunia is considered one of the oldest settlements in Bohorodchany region (XIV century).

According to one of the versions, on the territory of the village, Oleksa Dovbush slaves hid the treasures of the Bohorodchany Castle.

Salt has been mined here since ancient times. Industrial extraction of ozokerite began at the end of the 19th century.

The wooden church of Saint Paraskeva (1920) has been preserved.
