Vizhomlia

The village of Vizhomlia is located in the forest massifs of the Yavoriv region, 12 km south of the district center - the city of Yavoriv.

It was first mentioned in historical sources in 1376, when it belonged to the noblemen Herburts, although it existed earlier. The wooden Church of the Resurrection, built in 1560 and partially reconstructed in later times, has been preserved since ancient times. Next to it is a modern brick church with paintings and an iconostasis by the famous artist Orest Skop.

On the square in front of the churches, the first monument in Ukraine was erected in honor of the giving of Tomos to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Село Віжомля розташоване в оточенні лісових масивів Яворівщини, за 12 кілометрах на південь від райцентру – міста Яворова.

В історичних джерелах вперше згадується у 1376 році, коли належало шляхтичам Гербуртам, хоча існувало і раніше. З давніх часів збереглася дерев'яна церква Воскресення Господнього, зведена 1560 року та частково реконструйована у пізніші часи. Поруч із нею розташована сучасна мурована церква із розписами та іконостасом роботи відомого митця Ореста Скопа.

На майдані перед храмами встановлено перший в Україні пам’ятник на честь надання Томосу Православній церкві України.
