Rashivka

The village of Rashivka is located at the confluence of the Rashivka River into the Psel River between Myrhorod and Hadiach. Administratively, it is part of the Lutensky community of Myrhorod district of Poltava region.

The date of foundation of the village is considered to be 1524, although the Rashivka tract is first mentioned in documents in 1636. Legend connects the name of the village with the fact that there were once many crayfish in the local river, which is why it was originally called Rachivka. According to another theory, during the Cossack times, the local castle site was a gathering point for Cossacks - rash. Another legend tells of the Rakchi brothers, whose Rakchivka farm supposedly gave rise to the modern village.

In the 17th-18th centuries, the town was the center of the Rashivka Hundred of the Hadyich Regiment, and in the 19th century - the center of the Rashivska Volost.

The buildings of the zemstvo hospital, built in 1901, and the pharmacy from 1886, which now houses a thematic museum, have been preserved.

Село Рашівка розташоване при впадінні річки Рашівка у Псел між Миргородом і Гадячем. Адміністративно входить до складу Лютенської громади Миргородського району Полтавської області.

Датою заснування села вважається 1524 рік, хоча у документах урочище Рашівка вперше згадується у 1636 році. Легенда пов'язує назву села з тим, що у місцевій річці колись було багато раків, тому початково її нібито називали Рачівкою. Згідно з іншою теорією, за козацьких часів на місцевому замчищі знаходився збірний пункт козаків – раш. Ще одна легенда розповідає про братів Ракчів, чий хутір Ракчівка нібито дав початок сучасному селу.

У XVII-XVIII століттях містечко було центром Рашівської сотні Гадяцького полку, а у XIX столітті – центром Рашівської волості.
