Verbivka

The village of Verbivka on the Sukhy Tashlyk River is located 10 kilometers west of Kamyanka.

It was formed in the 18th century from several hamlets on the way from Chyhyryn to Uman. One of the estates of the family of the Decembrist Vasyl Davydov, who owned Kamyanka and the surrounding lands (not preserved), was located here.

The wooden church of the Nativity of the Virgin was built in 1857 on the site of the previous one, which existed since 1794. In 1860, the son of the Decembrist, Lev Davydov, was married in this church to the sister of the composer Petro Chaykovskyi, Oleksandra. Chaykovskyi himself presented the opera "Eugene Onegin", which he worked on in Kamyanka, for the first time in V ...
