On November 16, on the International Day of Tolerance, a presentation of the printed edition of the "Handbook of accessibility" was held in Kyiv at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv with the participation of First Lady Olena Zelenska.

"Handbook of accessibility" was created for a year and was published during the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, precisely when, with the Russian invasion, barrier-freeness gained even greater relevance and new meaning. This unique multi-format publication with Braille font, engravable embossing, QR-codes for translation into Ukrainian sign language should become a full-fledged guide on tolerant communication and interaction with different people.

"Because the aggression created even more barriers. Even more physical - because every day more and more adults and children are injured by shelling, lose arms and legs. Even more mental barriers - because today almost every Ukrainian is experiencing stress due to the war. Even more economic barriers - because people lose housing, jobs, businesses. But we are not Russia. We want our people to have all the opportunities, to be healthy. Our principle is that the person is at the center of everything. We send people for prosthetics and create a national program of mental health, so that everyone can receive appropriate services if necessary. We are rebuilding the country so that after our victory, people will have better opportunities," said Olena Zelenska in an interview with the German publication Brigitte.

From the beginning of the work on the creation of the "Handbook of accessibility", it was planned that the presentation of the printed edition would take place at the International Book Arsenal Festival in May 2022 in Kyiv. However, due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, this did not happen. And for the first time it was presented by Olena Zelenska at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2022.

DTEK Group, Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv, Yakaboo book platform, Oschadbank, World Health Organization Ukraine, and Ist publishing were partners of the printed version of the Guide. Analytical and technical support for the project was provided by the public organization "Bezbariernist". The editor of the guide is Tetyana Kasyan, the illustrator is Olha Dehtyareva.

"Довідник безбар'єрності" створювався рік і вийшов з друку під час повномасштабної війни росії проти України, саме тоді, коли із російським вторгненням безбар’єрність набула ще більшої актуальності й нового значення. Це унікальне мультиформатне видання зі шрифтом Брайля, конгревним тисненням, QR-кодами на переклад українською жестовою мовою має стати повноцінним гідом з толерантної комунікації та взаємодії з різними людьми.

"Бо агресія створила ще більше бар’єрів. Ще більше фізичних - бо щодня все більше дорослих і дітей травмується від обстрілів, втрачає руки і ноги. Ще більше психічних бар’єрів – бо сьогодні майже кожен українець переживає стрес через війну. Ще більше економічних бар’єрів – бо люди втрачають житло, роботу, бізнес. Але ми – не Росія. Ми хочемо, щоб наші люди мали всі можливості, були здоровими. Наш принцип – людина в центрі всього. Ми відправляємо людей на протезування і створюємо національну програму психічного здоров’я, щоб кожен за потреби міг отримати відповідні послуги. Ми відновлюємо країну, щоб після нашої перемоги люди мали кращі можливості", – сказала Олена Зеленська в інтерв'ю німецькому виданню Brigitte.

Від початку роботи по створенню "Довідника безбар'єрності" планувалося, що презентація друкованого видання відбудеться на Міжнародному фестивалі "Книжковий Арсенал" у травні 2022 року в Києві. Проте через повномасштабне вторгнення росії в Україну, це не відбулося. І вперше він був презентований Оленою Зеленською на Франкфуртському книжковому ярмарку в жовтні 2022 року.

Партнерами друкованої версії Довідника виступили Група ДТЕК, Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv, книжкова платформа Yakaboo, Ощадбанк, World Health Organization Ukraine, видавництво Іst publishing.
