Another museum opened in the pottery capital of Ukraine

The memorial museum-estate of the outstanding potter Mykola Poshyvailo was opened in the village of Opishnya in the Poltava region to mark the 95th anniversary of his birth. The museum has become another tourist attraction of the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery, the institution's administration reported on its official Facebook page.

"His works were distinguished by their original style, a combination of traditional form with deep artistic meaning. Pots, jugs, bowls, kumantsi, whistles from the workshop of Mykola Poshyvailo are not just everyday things, but real works of art that preserve the spirit of the Ukrainian land and people," the message says.

It is noted that the master's family and the Opishnia museum workers have joined forces to create a space of memory, which preserves not only things, ceramics and archives, but also the very spirit of Mykola Poshyvailo's creativity.

"The museum-estate is not an ordinary exhibition. It is a place of meeting with living history, where each object speaks in the voice of the master. This space is designed not only to honor memory, but also to become a platform for dialogue between the past and the future," the administration emphasized.

The museum workers say that they deliberately refused to hold a loud official opening ceremony, given the martial law in the country.

Меморіальний музей-садибу видатного гончаря Миколи Пошивайла відкрили в селищі Опішня на Полтавщині до 95-річчя з дня його народження. Музей став ще одним туристичним об’єктом Національного музею-заповідника українського гончарства, повідомила адміністрація установи на офіційній сторінці у Facebook. 

"Його твори вирізнялися самобутнім стилем, поєднанням традиційної форми з глибоким художнім змістом. Горщики, глечики, миски, куманці, свистунці з майстерні Миколи Пошивайла – це не просто побутові речі, а справжні витвори мистецтва, що зберігають у собі дух української землі й народу", – йдеться у повідомленні.

Зазначається, що родина майстра та опішнянські музейники об’єднали зусилля, щоб створити простір пам’яті, в якому збережено не лише речі, кераміку й архіви, але й сам дух творчості Миколи Пошивайла.

"Музей-садиба не є звичайною експозицією. Це місце зустрічі з живою історією, де кожен предмет промовляє голосом майстра. Цей простір покликаний не лише вшанувати пам’ять, а й стати платформою для діалогу між минулим і майбутнім", – наголосили в адміністрації.

Музейники кажуть, що свідомо відмовилися від проведення гучної офіційної церемонії відкриття, враховуючи воєнний стан в країні.
