Updated Parajanov Museum to Open at Kyiv International University

On May 27, at 11:30, the opening of a cultural and educational space dedicated to the life and work of the outstanding film director Serhii Parajanov will take place at Kyiv International University. This was reported by the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration.

"At the opening of the Serhii Parajanov Museum, guests will be presented with an exhibition in a new modern format, which contains rare materials, collages, personal belongings of the artist, author's installations dedicated to the work of Sergei Parajanov," the report says.

The department reminds that Serhii Parajanov is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, who managed to transcend the boundaries of time, genre and nationality. His work changed the very idea of ​​cinema and deeply influenced the development of Ukrainian and world culture. The film he created "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" became not just a cinematic masterpiece, but also a symbol of Ukrainian spirituality, authenticity and aesthetics. His art inspires artists even today.

The opening of the museum will be attended by honored guests - cultural figures, artists, representatives of national communities of Ukraine. There will be a screening of the play "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" performed by Ukrainian folklore actors from the Kyiv Academic Theater "Berehynia".

Earlier, the director of the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration Serhiy Anzhiyak noted in his letter to the university museum that other museums of the territorial community of Kyiv are ready to cooperate in popularizing Parajanov's creative heritage.

"We believe that the renewed Serhii Parajanov Museum will take a worthy place in the cultural life of the capital and become an important center for the implementation of educational, scientific and artistic projects," the letter says.

The event will be held with the support of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.

27 травня об 11:30 в Київському міжнародному університеті відбудеться відкриття культурно-освітного простору, присвяченого життю та творчості видатного кінорежисера Сергія Параджанова. Про це повідомили в Департаменті культури Київської міської державної адміністрації.

"На відкритті Музею Сергія Параджанова на гостей чекає презентація експозиції в новому сучасному форматі, яка містить рідкісні матеріали, колажі, особисті речі митця, авторські інсталяції, присвячені творчості Сергія Параджанова", – йдеться у повідомленні.

В департаменті нагадують, що Сергій Параджанов – один із найвпливовіших митців ХХ століття, який зумів перевершити кордони часу, жанру й національностей. Його творчість змінила саме уявлення про кінематограф і глибоко вплинула на розвиток української та світової культури. Створений ним фільм "Тіні забутих предків" став не просто кіношедевром, а й символом української духовності, автентики та естетики. Його мистецтво надихає митців і сьогодні.

На відкритті музею виступатимуть почесні гості – діячі культури, мистецтва, представників національних спільнот України. Відбудеться показ вистави "Тіні забутих предків" у виконанні акторів українського фольклору Київського академічного театру  "Берегиня".

Раніше директор Департаменту культури КМДА Сергій Анжияк у своєму листі до університетського музею зазначив, що інші музеї територіальної громади міста Києва готові до співпраці щодо популяризації творчої спадщини Параджанова.

"Вважаємо, що оновлений Музей Сергія Параджанова займе гідне місце в культурному житті столиці та стане важливим центром для реалізації освітніх, наукових і мистецьких проєктів", – йдеться у листі.
